Madison 3 Months Old

Time is flying by but it is just so fun to have a little baby again.  I LOVE it!  This past month she has learned that she has hands she can suck on.  She smiles and giggles a lot. Although, for this photo shoot I couldn't get her to smile for the life of me!!! She rolled over once and a new layer of hair has started to grow in.  She continues to be an awesome sleeper and eater and really has a very mild temperament.  We love our little Madison Ann!

The Cute Things Mason Does

WARNING: this is a post about Mason and is for posterity sake.  Could be a little lengthy for the common reader! I don't know where to write down all of the things I want to remember about Mason so I am writing them down on this blog.  He is at such a cute age and does the funniest things.  I know it's always more entertaining as parents.  He brings such a light and joy to our family that we just love.  He has also shown us recently that he is such a great big brother.  He is always looking out for Madison and loves it when she is awake just like him.  I am not sure how much he will love it once she starts talking and getting a mind of her own, but we will cross that bridge when it comes!!

Mason is 2 months shy of 3 years old.  We just started potty training him last week.  It's going okay. He still is obsessed with his ni-ni (blanky) and his flash light (he insists on going to bed with both).  He loves it when we do rewards systems with him and they seem to really motivate him which is nice.  He loves to where pockets.  He will ask me first thing in the morning to 'put pockets on' so he can carry all of his little trinkets with him (phone and 'screw dwibe').

Some funny things he has said or done recently are:

- Sometimes I say to him to be goofy "Are you cereal??" (instead of serious) This last time I said it and he answered back and said "Mommy I'm not cereal, I'm a pancake".  Cracked us up
- Watermelon is pronounced Waterweton, Sister Broeker (nursery leader) is pronounced Sister Broeka,
- He also tells me "don't worry about it mommy", it's usually when he is misbehaving so that's not one of my favorites
- He will tell us something and afterwards he will say "Sounds good mommy?"
- Logan, Jude, Lexi, Hudson, and Anders are all talked about in our home.  He always wants to go to their houses or meet them at the park.
- He knows the Pledge of Allegiance, abc's, shapes and can count almost to 20
- He LOVES music and will tell me if there is a song he doesn't like on the radio, again not one of my favorite things
- No matter if its waking up in the morning or after naps. He ALWAYS asks for Daddy. I think it melts Terrill's heart every time
- He likes to do EVERYTHING by himself.  It's wonderful when I need him to do something because I will ask him if he wants me to carry him over to me or if he wants to walk by himself or whatever it may be and he ALWAYS wants to do it himself.  It's really awesome.
- He loves waving to our neighbors.  If I am waving and talking to our neighbors and I haven't quit gotten him out of the carseat yet, he will cry and cry asking to say hi.  So I rush to do that and after he waves, he is happy again.
- He plays with toys in the tub and calls his toys his kids.  I hear things like "don't say stop it", "come on kid's lets go"
- When he is talking on his play phone he always says "Hi, How are you?, Good, I am good too"
- When we went to visit my dad's grave in Utah I wanted to use it as a teaching moment for him to learn about his Grandpa.  When we got there he kept looking around over and over again saying "Where is Grandpa Mark, I don't see him".  It was the purest reaction to the situation and broke my heart but it also gave a chance for my mom and I to tell him about his Grandpa who loves him.  After when we got back to our house, he pulled out a picture of Grandpa Mark and said "Grandpa Mark is dead, Jesus is dead too".  Smart kid.
- There is this hilarious clip that Jimmy Fallon does called "ew".  My brother and I quoted it often when I was in Utah.  The things we would say in the Jimmy Fallon voice were "Whip Cream" and "How many Mega pixels does it have".  The link is below to watch it because it makes no sense otherwise.  Anyways, when mason is playing he will say in a silly voice to his toys, "You want some whip cream?", "How many mega pixels does it have".  Oh boy, I need to watch what I say around that kid!

St. George Family Reunion and Utah Trip

The first 2 weeks of August were spent in Utah visiting with my family.  The first week we were in St. George UT.  My family and I rented a house in Hurricane.  It was just beautiful and perfect for our needs! It had a pool in the back yard which kept the kids entertained at all times.  Along with relaxing at the house.  We spent some time in St George at a children's museum and Brigham Young's home.  We spent one day in Zion's.  Which truly is breathtaking.  We did the walk up to the Narrow's where the kids could play in the river at the end.  We also saw my dad's cousin Annie and they hosted us for dinner which was so yummy!  The whole week was a lot of fun.  Terrill flew home at the end of the week and I was on my own after that!  I drove home with my sister to her house in Logan.  It was so fun to hang out and be in her home.  We went to the zoo and the heritage farm.  Mason had a blast with his cousin Hudson.  Tessa was also a huge help with the baby.  After my sisters, the kids and I headed to my moms house where we just relaxed.  It was so nice!  We also spent the day at the Hogle Zoo.  Then it was time for us to fly home.  Both kids did amazingly but I was so excited to be home and see Terrill!!!  It was a good test for me to be alone with both kiddos.  I think I survived :)

Madison 2 months old!

Madison is 2 months old today!! We love her to pieces and she is such a good baby! She pretty much sleeps through the night and just wakes up once around 4:30 or 5:30, sometimes even 6:30.  It's amazing to have a newborn that sleeps! I couldn't be more blessed.  She had to get shots yesterday and screamed, but quickly stopped and pretty much has been fine ever since.  This past month she learned to smile and giggle.  She is also ticklish too!  I love watching her grow up.

Weight: 12lbs (74%)
Height: 23 inches (80%)

Peach Picking in July

On Saturday we decided to head out to Brentwood and do some peach picking.  We decided on Wolfe ranch because they had the best price at only .90 cents a lb!  The peaches were HUGE and ripe.  Mason had fun pulling the wagon and running around.  He also helped Terrill pick some peaches.  Madison enjoyed it too because she was nestled in close in the Ergo.  She slept the whole time.  We ended up with 40 lbs of peaches.  I canned 12 quarts worth and made 12 half pints of jam as well.  I actually went back to the ranch yesterday and picked up 35 more pounds.  I am freezing all of those.  The peaches this year are so yummy so I figure I better stock up!  After we picked peaches on Saturday we headed over to Eric's deli for some delicious sandwiches!  Overall a really fun family outing.

Madison's Baby Blessing - July 13

Madison's blessing day turned out wonderfully!  I was so thankful my brother was here because he was a huge help with getting food ready, taking care of Mason and setting up tables and such.   My sister also made Madison's blessing dress which turned out more beautiful than I could have ever imagined.  She is so talented and always willing to help in whatever way she can.  The morning of the blessing Terrill had church meetings which I didn't realize so that was a nice surprise! :) The blessing was beautiful, although at the very beginning Mason fell and hurt himself and started screaming so Karen Stapley took him out for me (bless her heart!).  Luckily Laurie recorded it and the rest was just perfect.  After sacrament meeting we came back to our house for a BBQ in the scorching 100 degree weather.  We set up tents and misters but I think people were still melting in the heat.  Overall, I thought it was very fun and I hope people had a good time! We love our family and that they came from far places to be here to support us!! P.S. I am SOOO sad that I didn't get a picture with my brother!
