Wasthington DC

Terrill and I have been wanting to take a trip to DC for a while so this past weekend, we decided to take advantage of the BEAUTIFUL weather. It was about 75 degrees outside so we decided to sport our t-shirt and shorts. We spent Friday and Saturday in DC seeing our nations capitol. I must say we walked a ton!! I felt like an old women because I was getting so tired, I guess that is what a desk job does to you!!

We started Friday by eating at one of Terrill's favorite restaurants he found while he was in London (Nado's). It was delicious. After lunch we went to the national archives museum and saw the original Bill of Rights, Declaration of Independence & The Constitution. It was so awesome to see the signature of those brave men who helped form our nation

Then we headed over to Air & Space museum and walked by the capitol building on the way. It was wonderful. After the Air and Space museum we headed down to the Holocaust museum which was very sobering, and eye opening.

After walking almost for 5 hours, we were pooped and needed some food so we headed to Pot Belly's for dinner and then headed back to the Washington Monument, World War II Memorial and The Lincoln Memorial. On our way back to the car, we walked by the white house. The whole day was a blast! Let's just say we slept really well that night!

Terrill wanted a picture with the Washington Monument coming out of his head. Why...I do not know.

This was truely a breathtaking moment.

On Saturday, we went to the Temple in the morning then took the Metro into DC. We went out to lunch at Open City Diner and it was delicious and seemed to be very popular! We walked from lunch over to the Zoo and saw a ton of animals. It was so much fun to see and it was nice that everything was free. As I mentioned this to Terrill, he kindly reminded me that none of it was free and was paid for by our tax dollars. Point well taken.

This Otter was adorable and kept scratching it's back.

V-Day

Valentines day came and went so fast but I wanted to post a few pics anways. Terrill surprised me with heart attacking the apartment and beautiful flowers. I made a red themed breakfast and dinner. It was a lot of fun to surprise each other!!

Pink heart shaped pancakes for breakfast

Thanks Terrill for making Valentine's day fun and special. I am truely blessed to have you in my life!

Washington's Crossing

Today was whopping 37 degrees outside, and since it was so warm compared to what it has been, we decided to venture out and do some site seeing. We went to Washington's crossing which is where Washington's army crossed the river on Christmas eve to defeat the Hessian army at Trenton. There were some cool old houses and a visitors center. Everything was temporary closed but we took the opportunity to walk around and take some pictures. It was really windy and cold but felt good to be outside and see a new place!

Happy Birthday Dad

Last Saturday (1-29-2011) would have been my Dad's 60th Birthday. To remember him, I made him a cake! Because my family is kind of spread out and weren't able to be together, each of us made a cake to remember dad on his birthday! I made it a happy day with thoughts of my dad. I made sure to listen to The Car's while I baked (one of his favorite bands).

Terrill and I also went out to Chinese food for lunch. We had a great time, except I realized that Chow Mein is not the same thing as Lo Mein. Lo Mein is what I actually wanted and Chow Mein is what I ordered because I got the two mixed up :( I learned my lesson!
