San Diego Vacation

Last weekend we had the amazing opportunity to go on vacation in San Diego with amazing friends. They are actually friends Terrill knew in high school.  The whole trip was a blast.  We stayed in rooms right next to each other and did everything together.  The couple we met down there have a boy about the same age as Mason so we were even able to get naps in each day.  It was awesome!! On the drive down we had some time to stop in Irvine and Newport Beach to meet up with one of Terrill's best friends and we also got to see where he used to live. The first day we had we went to Sea world.  My favorite part of that was the Shamu show.  After Sea world we headed down to seaport village and walked around and then had an amazing meal.  I realized that I have a love for smoked salmon as I got it at practically every place we went too! The fish down there was just so good!

The second day we headed to the zoo.  The animals and exhibits were really impressive and I would almost recommend this over Sea world.  There was just so much to see that we didn't even see all of it!  That night we got the famous Phil's BBQ which was delicious and then Mike and Phi came over to our room and we talked and hung out.

The third day was Sunday, so we didn't plan anything too big.  Terrill, Mason and I went to church in the morning and then we met up with our friends.  We went to the Mormon battalion site in old San Diego and enjoyed real authentic mexican food with homemade tortillas. Yum!  After the boys naps, we decided to walk in La Jolla and see the beach.  It was really beautiful.  Then we got dinner at a fish market and had a picnic at the temple.  Another incredible day!

The fourth and final day started out with meeting my aunt and uncle for breakfast.  We went to Hash Brown a Go Go.  It was soooo good.  Then we met up with Mike and Phi around 10 in Coronado. We rented beach cruisers and rode around the whole island.  The guys hauled the little guys in a trailer and said that it wasn't hard at all.  Then we walked around some shops and had lunch and chocolates.  After nap time, we headed to little Italy where we enjoyed dessert and dinner (dessert first of course) and then more dessert at yogurt land.  Again, another incredible day!  I just had so much fun with Mike, Phi and Parker.  What a perfect vacation and what wonderful friends they are!!

May Fun

So much has happened in the last Month!  We had a craft day hear and did the slip n slide and made strawberry jam.  Then I participated in the mermaid series half marathon in Fremont and then flew to Utah that night to surprise my mom for Mothers day.  It was an awesome month filled with lots of fun!!!

Our Garden

Okay, so this is going to be one of those posts where I gush about how awesome my husband is.  Sorry, it just will be.  And there will be a ton of pictures too! Terrill started a new job in February and had about a month off of work in January.  It was amazing to spend so much time with him and he took on a huge project.  That was to build 7 planter boxes in our side yard and to put in a drip irrigation so that we wouldn't have to worry about watering our garden.  Terrill had done a bunch of planning and research but besides that didn't know much about any of it. Yet still set out to accomplish this huge project and seemed to do it so effortlessly.  With the help of his dad they went to work and slowly our wonderful garden appeared.  I mean the whole place has been transformed and we have been growing things like crazy.  I mean it has been so effortless and it has been all because Terrill built it so well.  I helped with about 2% of the project because Mason gets into everything and I was sick a couple of the weekends they were working on it and it just wasn't my thing (lets face it).  But Terrill and his dad would literally be out there all day long working and would forget to drink or eat!! Oh they are just wonderful, I could go on and on.  I have to give a quick shout out to our home teacher and the missionaries for helping us haul tons of compost.  It was dirty, stinky and not the most fun job, so thank you!! Currently we have a long list of fun thing we are growing and trying out in our garden which include: Brussels sprouts (YUM!), potatoes, zucchini, basil, tomato's, beans, peas, broccoli, cantaloupe, watermelon, corn, lettuce, spinach and strawberries.  Pheewww!! So far all has been successful except for the strawberries.

Bonus feature! Terrill's dad put in stairs in between the 4 left planter boxes.

Mason 18 Months

The time is flying by and Mason is 18 months now! He loves to try and repeat what we say, climb on everything, being outside (he still eats sand), playing with electronics, playing with cars, reading books and using a ton of baby sign language.  He is still taking 2 naps a day which I am thrilled about and he loves playing with Terrill.  Here are his stats:

Heights: 35 inches (99%)
Weight: 24 lbs (50%)

Recently when I was in Utah my mom and I took Mason up to the Bountiful Temple to take some pictures.  Needless to say hardly none turned out since he is always on the move.  I am hoping to get better ones soon!
